ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — St. Pius X School has announced the hiring of Shawn Fisher as the next head coach of the boys basketball program, bringing in a leader with more than two decades of experience in coaching, player development, and organizational leadership.
Fisher steps into the role after already making an impact within the St. Pius X community during the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 school year, where he has assisted both the boys and girls basketball programs. In those roles, he has helped guide player development, implement team strategies, and reinforce a culture centered on faith, excellence, and accountability. His presence has contributed to continued program success, including postseason appearances, while emphasizing the full development of the student-athlete both on and off the court.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to coach at St. Pius, a school grounded in academic excellence and a proud athletic tradition,” Fisher said. “I look forward to helping shape these young men and continuing the strong success of the boys basketball program.”
In addition to his work within school programs, Fisher has served as an Athlete Development Specialist since 2006, designing individualized training programs centered on speed, strength, agility, and injury prevention. His approach to development is rooted in maximizing each athlete’s potential through tailored instruction and a disciplined, fundamentals-based system.
Beyond basketball, Fisher brings extensive leadership experience in the professional sector, currently serving as Vice President of Information Technology at REDW, where he oversees a 13-member technology department. His background in executive leadership and strategic planning further strengthens his ability to build and sustain a successful high school program.
Fisher’s coaching philosophy is grounded in hard work, discipline, and mentorship, aligning closely with the mission of St. Pius X School. His emphasis on developing “today’s youth into tomorrow’s citizens” reflects a commitment not only to winning on the court, but to preparing student-athletes for long-term success in life.
With a strong foundation already in place, Fisher now takes the reins of a program with high expectations, aiming to build on its tradition while continuing to elevate the standard of excellence for Sartan basketball.
