St. Pius X welcomes students of all faiths and backgrounds to apply. Prospective incoming freshmen and transfer students should review the “How to Enroll” page for application information. We also accept senior year admissions, but only students transferring from other Catholic high schools are considered.

An applicant to the freshman class must satisfactorily complete the eighth grade or its equivalent. SPX accepts applicants on the basis of previous academic performance (grades and standardized test scores), the recommendation of teachers, and the promise of the student’s future development in the areas of the school's mission as a Catholic college preparatory school. In addition, all freshmen will be required to take the high school placement test (HSPT).

Placement Exam - HSPT
The HSPT is open to prospective, incoming freshmen. The HSPT requires about 4 hours to complete, and tests verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, reading comprehension, math skills, language arts skills, and science. Students should bring two no. 2 pencils, a bottle of water, and a snack. Calculators are not allowed.

All applicants must take a placement test. The placement test for grade 8 will be the Pre-HSPT exam. This exam is the 7th grade version of the HSPT exam, which is what we use for placement into grade 9. This test is used to determine placement, it is not an admissions test. Transcripts, current standardized test scores and teacher/principal/counselor recommendations are used to determine acceptance. For more information, visit the HSPT page by clicking here.
