Softball: Sartans Finish Season Strong
The St. Pius X softball team concluded its season with an impressive postseason run, finishing 14-15 overall and 7-1 in District 5-4A, winning a pair of games this postseason.
After a play-in win over Kirtland Central the previous week, the Sartans stayed alive in the consolation bracket with a 4-2 come-from-behind victory over 5-seed Goddard on Thursday. Sophomore Lilee Zarate pitched a complete game, while Aubri Hooee went 1-for-3 with a clutch 2-RBI double.
On Friday, St. Pius X battled Lovington, eventually falling 8-5 in a tightly contested matchup. Jordan Chavez and Aubri Hooee each had two hits, with Hooee driving in three runs. The Sartans’ two state tournament losses came to eventual state champion Silver and runner-up Lovington—a testament to the strength of their bracket run.
