“Restore All Things in Christ”SPX Mission statement

  • January was a tough month for all of us at school with COVID cases rising and a return to COVID Safe Practices around the school and in the cafeteria. However, February is proving to be a better month. Despite the snow storm last week, the students and teachers enjoyed their shortened days and canceled classes.
  • On February 1, 2022, the Catholic Schools came together at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Church to celebrate Catholic Schools Week. Our St. Pius Choir was the leading choir. In addition, students from Campus Ministry/Retreat and Liturgical Choir attended. At this Mass, the Archbishop usually grants all schools a day off to show his appreciation for our students and faculty. We waited with bated breath, but he did not grant a day off at that Mass.
  • Late yesterday afternoon, Mrs. Illerbrun sent out a message to all schools that Archbishop Wester was granting a day off to all schools. The day chosen is at the discretion of the school. At St. Pius, we surveyed the faculty at the end of the day on Thursday. They overwhelmingly chose Monday, February 14, 2022 as the day they were choosing off.
  • MONDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2022, WILL BE A DAY OFF FOR ST. PIUS X STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF. Thank you, Archbishop Wester, and Happy Valentine's Day!
  • In other news, our COVID numbers are finally going down! In discussion with our school nurse, Ms. McNew, we are going to relax a couple of our recent changes.
  • Beginning Tuesday, February 15, 2022
    • The cafeteria will return to normal format.
    • Seniors may resume off campus lunches on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • There are a few protocols that WILL remain in place:
    • Masks inside the buildings
    • No lockers
    • One way halls
  • These will remain as preventive measures to keep the numbers going down, hopefully. Parents, please continue to instill in your student the importance of wearing their mask and following school policies and guidelines.
  • In addition, we hope to have an all school Mass on Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022 with the distribution of ashes at the end.
  • Please remember, our sophomore students will be taking the Pre-ACT on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. The test will begin after the Ash Wednesday Mass. The entire school will have an early dismissal that day at approximately 1:00pm.
  • All students will be participating in the Circle of Grace class on Wednesday, March 16. 2022. This is a required class by the Archdiocese of Santa Fe that all students must attend. The focus of the class is to teach students to recognize unsafe situations and report them. Please contact your student’s Theology teacher for more information. They will be sending home information as the date approaches.
Remember, Monday is a school holiday. Be safe and stay well. Have a great Super Bowl Sunday and Happy Valentine’s Day!
