From the Nurse’s Office

  • Illnesses: Please keep your child home if they are ill. Any student with a fever of 100.4 or higher must be fever-free for 24 hours without taking fever-reducing medication before returning to school. Students who have been sick and started on antibiotics can return to school 24 hours after starting the antibiotic. Students who test positive for COVID need to isolate for 5 days following the day they start having symptoms. They can return to school on the sixth day as long as they are feeling better and have been fever-free for 24 hours without taking fever-reducing medication. Please report positive tests for COVID, influenza, strep, or RSV to the school nurse at [email protected] or (505) 831-8445.

  • 2024-2025 Physicals: Start making appointments for physicals for the 2024-2025 school year. These must be completed on or after April 1, 2024, and uploaded to the Magnus Student Electronic Medical Record by August 1, 2024. New physical forms will be available in Magnus as soon as possible after NMAA releases the 2024-2025 forms, which usually occurs during the first week of April each year.

  • 2024-2025 Immunizations: All juniors and seniors must have a booster dose of the Meningococcal (Men ACWY) vaccine. The booster dose must be given on or after their 16th birthday. The student’s doctor may also recommend two doses of the Meningitis B vaccine. Immunization records must be uploaded to Magnus between April 1 and August 1 for the 2024-2025 school year.

  • 2024-2025 Action Plans: Food Allergy Action Plans, Asthma Action Plans, Diabetes Medical Management Plans, and Seizure Action Plans need to be renewed for each new school year. They should be uploaded to Magnus for the 2024-2025 school
    year.
8th Grade

Now that we are well underway with the second semester, we would like to remind 8th graders that communication with teachers is vital to their success. Whether it be asking for help on material that they did not understand, advance notice of an absence, or just reaching out about issues that they may need some advice with. We are all in this together! We are proud of you and we LOVE you!

Accommodations and SOAR Program

If anyone is concerned about a student who may qualify for accommodations, please refer them to Mr. Madrid or their counselor to get the evaluation process started. Mr. Madrid is currently working on new requests for accommodations and students who need to be re-evaluated. Students on an accommodation plan can contact Mr. Madrid to take exams/quizzes for extended time in his classroom.
