Visual Arts

Studio art studentThe Visual Arts program at St. Pius X offers classes such as Painting and Drawing, Printmaking, Photography, Digital Art and Animation, Sculpture, Mechanical Drawing, and Architectural Drafting. We also offer Studio Art, which is a survey course of all the above. Our AP classes include AP Art Studio and AP Art History for advanced students in their junior and senior years.

The goal of the Visual Arts program is to provide students with the design and technical skills to create works that challenges the imagination and enriches the spirit. We embrace our talents as gifts of the Spirit, tempered and honed by technical and aesthetic skills.

SPX made another strong showing at the NM Scholastic Art Competition for the 2021-2022 school year. The juried competition is an annual statewide art contest. Seven Sartans were selected from thousands of entries throughout the state. Congrats to Grace Aragon, Ashton Bischoff, Tanner Davis, Elyse Lovato, Vicente Martinez, Adriana Orona, and Arden Palanza.

Outstanding showing from Sartan artists at the NM Scholastic Art Competition. The juried competition is an annual statewide art contest. Gold Key winners, such as Isabel Roddy, are automatically considered for national awards. Out of thousands of state entries only a few hundred student works are accepted. Congratulations to the eleven 2020-2021 SPX artists who earned sixteen awards.
