Sartan Stories: Prestin Day '26

Faith, Resilience, and the Drive to Lead

From the moment Prestin Day ’26 stepped onto the St. Pius X campus, he wasn’t just looking for a high school experience—he was determined to shape it, leaving a legacy of grit, faith, and joyful leadership.

Now entering his senior year, Prestin’s four years at SPX have been defined by a fearless embrace of challenge—whether in the classroom, on the athletic field, or in his personal journey. Drawn to Pius for its rigorous academics, competitive athletics, and strong Catholic culture, he quickly found his place as a standout on the football and track teams and as a school ambassador, proudly representing the Sartan spirit to prospective families.

Prestin’s favorite academic challenge came in Chemistry with Mr. Ball—a class that tested his limits and rewarded his persistence.

“It was difficult,” he says, “but it taught me discipline.”

That discipline has shaped not only his studies, but the way he approaches life: with positivity, openness, and a grounding in Christian values.

“My Catholic education has given me peace in my actions and my words,” Day shares.

But his journey has not been without hardship. In football, Prestin suffered a severe back injury that sidelined him for an entire year—a test of patience for someone who admits it’s not his strong suit. Recovery was slow and grueling, but prayer and perseverance carried him through.

“I became more faithful in my prayer and learned to trust God’s plan better than I ever have,” he shared. The injury that could have ended his athletic career instead became a defining chapter in his personal growth.

Inspired by the generosity, honesty, and leadership of his coaches, Prestin has his sights set on the future. He plans to study business in college—applying to schools like West Texas A&M and Texas A&M—with the goal of becoming a successful entrepreneur.

“I’m already exposing myself to new business ideas,” he says with a confident smile.

His vision isn’t just about personal success—it’s about using his influence to bring others closer to Christ in everyday life. Away from the classroom and competition, Prestin finds joy in woodworking, riding horses, and perfecting his roping skills.

His advice to incoming freshmen is simple but powerful: “Don’t be embarrassed of yourself—be confident in you.”
