Instrumental Music

The St. Pius X offers experience for all levels of musicianship in Orchestra and Concert Band. Instruction takes an ensemble approach, providing students an environment with the opportunity to focus on music appropriate to individual skill levels.

In addition piano and guitar are offered.

Instrumental music classes are taught by Keith Jordan. Before starting at St. Pius X in 2011, Mr. Jordan was the instrumental music department chair for over 25 years and instrumental music director for 32 years at La Cueva High School.

As band director, his bands placed either first, second or third in the state band contest for ten years in a row, winning state several times. Mr. Jordan's jazz bands were selected the top honor jazz band in the state three times, and his groups won sweepstakes awards in out-of-state festivals over 20 times.

A professional tubist, euphoniumist, pianist, and organist, Mr. Jordan was a member of the King’s Brass, professional brass quintet, touring the United States with them. He also has substituted with NMSO on both piano and tuba, Albuquerque Philharmonic Orchestra, San Juan Symphony, Santa Fe Symphony, Roswell Symphony, and been the orchestra director at various churches throughout the Metro Area. His background in music theory, as well as modern jazz theory comes from experience playing in both areas all over the southwest.
