Theology I: The Bible
This semester the freshmen in Miss Gonzales’ class are learning about the Bible and how it is truly the Living Word. It has truly been a blessing to have such great discussions about people/stories in the Old Testament and how they relate to the lives we live today. My hope is that your children leave with a wonder, awe, and love for God and His Word. I also hope they continue to pray with scripture and read it before Sunday Mass (this is something we have been doing throughout the semester). It has been an honor and complete delight teaching your children and I pray that they continue to grow in faith and relationship with Jesus Christ and each other!
Theology II: Church History
This semester the sophomores in Miss Gonzales’ class are learning about Church History. By taking an in depth look at the historical context into which Christ was born, as well as the birth and suffering of the early church, I hope they have grown in appreciation for their faith in Jesus Christ. In the midst of great darkness, in the Church’s history, God always sent saints to bring the light of Christ to others. My hope is that they continue to learn about these great saints on their own and strive to be saints in this day and age!
Although I (Miss Gonzales) don’t teach seniors this semester, I do attend each senior retreat as a chaperone. The first retreat was held in November at Camp Oro Quay. It was an amazing retreat full of fun, teamwork, and prayer. I feel so blessed to be a part of senior retreats and it’s in these moments I see how St. Pius X High School is set apart from the rest. These retreats are powerful days that not only strengthen their relationship with God but also with one another. This is what makes St. Pius feel like a family; a family rooted in Christ. We’re blessed to have such amazing students!
