fun learning opportunities for middle schoolers
Each summer St. Pius offers opportunites for middle schoolers to pursue their interests in a variety of classes from Cooking is Fun to Science and Engineering. Classes include drawing, retablo art, and computer art, photography, creative writing and the Ghosts of New Mexico and study skills.
Summer @ SPX and PLAY Conservatory
Summer @ St. Pius X in conjunction with Play Conservatory project directed by Jonathan Dunski offers a tuition-based theatre program in which a team of teaching artists works with young performers ages 8 to 13 to develop their skills in acting, singing, dancing, and professionalism. No prior experience is required to participate, though admission to the project requires a successful audition. Students rehearse five days per week for five weeks, up to seven hours per day. “The program is as unique as it is challenging,” Dunski says. “No other summer children’s Theater program works as intensively or stages as many performances. We set a professional standard. We structure our projects so that students achieve excellence.”
Past summer performances Alice In Wonderland and OZ! have delighted audiences young and old in good wholesome summer entertainment.
